First and foremost Brian is a family man. The Purrington family reside on Kent Island between Annapolis and the Eastern shore of Maryland. 

Having interest in horses since childhood and working with horses starting at age 13 horseshoeing has been a continuation of childhood dreams. Working horses as a youngster he developed a connection with horses that has helped in numerous ways his daily interaction with many breeds of horses.

His riding although not advanced was well rounded with instruction and experiences ranging from trail riding and driving to hunters, jumpers and eventing. These experiences have enabled communcaton from a rider or driver concerning the horse, it's movement or feel to be understood from a first hand veiwpoint.

Brian is an AFA certified farrier and is actively persuing the AFA certified journeyman farrier level. Continuing education comes in the form of clinics, university symposiums, self study and continual practice.

Certification is a voluntary non regulated testing that encourages advancement in skill sets and proficiency. Brian also plans for enrollment in the advanced farrier science course offered at Meyerscough college in Lancashire England. Although the texbook study and lessons are available on line the tests require a one month trip to England each course year for the practical tests and applications.

Brian's main focus in his daily work is biomechanics and management of even the slightest conformational deviations. Such attention is important to the longevity, soundness and performance of the horse. This requires a strong knowledge and understanding of Biomechanical forces, conformation, joints, muscle, tendon and ligaments combined with an ability to translate and compensate, through the application of farriery, for those factors relative to conformation, use, environment and pathology.

Brian is well known for his work ethic and availability for his clients. His belief is that commitment to the client is a  very important aspect of any business.
